LOCATION: Wilmington, VT
The West Lake Water project was an ambitious project undertaken by Mount Snow Ski Resort to provide themselves with a new and larger source of water for their snow making operations. The largest of the contracts was Contract #2 which was the construction of the new 120 Million Gallon West Lake Reservoir. GW Tatro purchased a CAT 385 excavator specially for this contract, which required excavating over 400,000cy of earth on a 25 acre site. GW Tatro utilized GPS machine control technology on several pieces of equipment throughout the project. Initially expected to take 2 years to complete, the new reservoir was ready to fill after only 18 months of construction. Mount Snow retained GW Tatro as their contractor for the remaining 6 contracts on the West Lake project and all projects were substantially complete by October 2017, in time to make snow for the 2017-18 Ski Season.
